escaping the past

While we know that we can't change the past, sometimes it is difficult to move on.

It may be a recent event, or something that happened a long time ago.  Maybe you 'pushed it to the back of your mind' and now you find yourself being reminded that it's still there.   You may not have talked to anyone about it, or maybe people tell you that you should just 'get over it'.

I can help by listening and giving you time to be able to work out what you want to do with this memory.  Sometimes there are intense feelings, sensations and images that you keep re-living the past.  If the time has come for you to move on but you don't know how, I can help.

I have helped people who have suffered from abuse and have found self respect; suffered from bullying or threats and have learnt to stand up for themselves; suffered from betrayal and have learnt to trust again; suffered from bereavement and have learnt to live and love again; suffered from guilt and have found freedom; suffered from neglect and gained self esteem.

Some people are worried that it will be overwhelming, or a strong feeling that they would rather avoid facing the difficulties.  This is the purpose of using the help of an experienced counsellor.  I work in a person centered way, which means I work with you as an individual, at your pace.

You have taken the first step already in looking for help.  Please call me.
